Internet marketing, what it entails
Internet marketing, put quite simply, is the concept of business marketing, both to customers and to other businesses (B2B), by use of the internet. However, getting inside the concept and looking at how it works may not be considered as quite so simple. The primary reason for this is that the internet, still relatively young, is ever-evolving and therefore subject to waves of change.
New advances in internet technology are constantly providing new opportunities for businesses to add to their marketing approach and content. Likewise, advances in technology are making more affordable options available to the consumer, and so many more people are logging onto the internet every day. As they do, the demographic is changing, and no longer is the wealthy individual the only target of internet marketing. Today virtually all income levels must be considered in the internet marketing approaches of business.
In the 1990s, internet marketing went berserk. It was a brand new concept, and caution had been thrown to the wind in all the hype. Companies did not take into consideration that the same variables of marketing in other forms of media should logically be applied to internet marketing as well. Their failure to study markets and create sound strategies led to the fall of many so-called dot-coms in the end of 2000. The survivors, and successors, began to look toward time-tested logic in marketing for direction, and the result was massive growth.
Through the now-careful approach of businesses and marketers alike, targeted advertising on the internet has brought forth great success. Virtually any market you may wish to break into can be tapped on the internet. Many marketing firms offer the solutions a business needs to get their products out to consumers, while a small firm may wish to handle their marketing on their own and can find lower-cost solutions for their goals as well.
Search engines are a major resource for marketing, but typically are only able to provide ideas for what the consumer is already searching for. To accomplish the spontaneous suggestions offered by television or radio, pop-up ads and ads placed directly on a web-site are used. E-mail is an excellent form of marketing, but typically only has success once a business has built a good relationship with the consumer.
More and more people are spending more and more time on the internet daily. The reason is simple: the convenience offered by the internet, coupled with the increasing abilities of the internet to help you get your tasks completed, has allowed for all types of business to be conducted with point and click ease. Many tasks no longer require a trip in the car to be completed. Thus, relationships are growing on the web, and as they do, the pace of internet commerce has rocketed into the trillions of dollars. Advances in technology, and increased traffic, are leading to a future for internet marketing that can only point skyward.
To a lot of people internet marketing is very hard, they do not understand the concept and they are overwhelmed with all the changes that are happening every day. The internet is an ever-changing world of information and if you do not take time to learn at least the basic, it will seems almost impossible to navigate.
For a selected few internet marketing is indeed easy, but not an overnight proposition; it could be weeks, months or years of internet marketing before your site becomes profitable. But any small businesses can earn a substantial income annually online, with little or no money invested the early stages of internet marketing. Remember little or no investment in the early stages, because you will have to reinvest your profit if you really want to grow business to the next level.
Internet marketing today is not about selling vitamins to your family and friends, nor is it any kind MLM Company. And to really run an online business you will need to know some of the internet marketing search engine tactics I’ve learned over the years.

So, you have been beating down by the economy and now have decided to take your expertise online without any capital. As a newbie to internet marketing it will require reading, I mean lots of reading. It’s very important to know how to write good copy so your web site will be found by the search engines. You will have to know a little bit about website design: like site structure, creating good titles, Meta tags, H1 tags, links structure etc. But another important part of successful internet marketing is search engine submission.
First make sure your site is complete. You have all your keywords check, all links are working properly and none are broken, and that there aren’t any missing images. So, it’s time to submit your fully optimize website. For the most effective internet marketing, you’ll want to make sure your site is listed in the following search engines and directories:
DMOZ. This is a directory that’s edited by humans, and its listings “feed” a number of other directories, including Google. It’s a free listing, which is very rare.
Google. Another free listing.
Yahoo. Regions and localities within the Canadian section are still free. Also edited by humans.

Avoid Free-for-All listings (FFAs), link farms and the majority of Award sites. If your gut says it’s a bad idea, it probably is. What I can’t emphasize enough is that you take the time to find the right search engine submission category, and if your business is regional or local, make sure you submit there instead of the main areas.
If after a few months you find that your site is still not listed in the search engines, go through the search engine submission process again. First though, take a hard objective look at your web site to make sure the basics are covered:
Is the navigation (also referred to as usability) of your site easy to understand and use?
Do visitors understand quickly, upon their arrival, the purpose and subject of your site?
Is there enough descriptive, keyword rich text on the home page?
Are you inadvertently using spam techniques?
